Another Learning Log

I learned that spiders have eight legs and seven knees.

And I learned about Florence Nightingale.  Before she was a nurse she helped her fathers farmers if they were sick. And one time she saved a dog from dying who broke his leg. I learned that she was a nurse, and then she heard that hospitals in the war needed some nurses.  And her and her friends decided to go and help the hospitals at the war.  And the hospitals were absolutely disgusting.  And Florence Nightingale cleaned the hospitals and saved allot of guys lives.  And then she decided she wanted to go to the hospitals on the war front.  And there she got a sickness and almost died.  But she did not die, she just could not travel any more, and lots of people came to visit her.

And I learned about archeology.  I learned that pottery is one of the most important things to find.  I remember that most people think that if you find gold and silver or something like that, that's really important. But a simple piece of pottery can tell you allot.  And about why villages were built on hills, and when a house got burned or something the person who was living in it would flatten all the ruins and build on top of it.  And when the house got flattened by an earth quake they would just flatten all the ruins and build on top of it again.  So the hill just kept getting taller and taller and skinnier and skinnier.  Then the people on the hill have to move away because their hill does not have enough room on the top.

We were learning how to do 3D modeling, and we learned what thumb nails are and we learned how to download things, and how to zip files and unzip files.  And how to make files.  We learned about x,y, and z axis.  We had to download the zipping thing and the 3D modeling program.

In Life of Fred we learned about not equals and about how 3+4 does not equal 1, 3+4 does not equal 2 and so on and so forth.  You get the picture until you get to seven, and then say it does equal seven, ok.  And we listened to that all the way up to 58.

So in Europe everybody use to drive on any side of the road. And then the Romans attacked them and took over and made new laws, and one of their new laws was that you have to drive on the right side of the road. And then after a long time passed the people decided they were fed up with the Romans. And they were trying to get them off their land and so they switched around the way their laws worked.  And so they were not going by Roman laws and so instead they drived on the other side of the road instead of the right side.

Stories told by Hugs, about experiencing and learning about nature.

I also learned about how to catch fish. We were at a nature park and there were these fish swimming in a pond, and one of our friends brung a net.  And we wanted to see if we could catch a fish with it. I learned what you do is you scare the fish over to the net and then you wait for them to come. And they come because there was mosquito fish, the type of fish we were fishing, were mosquito fish.  And mosquito fish only live around the very edges of the pond, so we waited for one white and orange one to come over and eat the mosquito fish. And then it was eating so it wasn't looking at me and I grabbed it with my net.  And then the fish jumped out of my net.  And then I caught it again.  And then it jumped out again.  And then my friend grabbed my net and picked it up.  We would have kept the fish but our tank we had was too small.

And I learned how leaches look.  We were in our back yard fishing for crawfish's in our creek, and we saw something moving and then our friend scooped it out with a net to see what it was.  And then we brung it over to the moms to ask them what it was, and if it was a leach, and then mom said it was a leach.  And when we saw it in the creek it was all thin, but when we caught it it scrunched up into a ball.  And I'm really grossed out that there are leaches in there, I use to play in there.

And we have craw fish in our back yard and in our creek.  And we learned about crawfish and what they eat and what they do for protection.  Once Tumbelina and me were hunting for crawfish in the back yard, and then Tumbelina and me were waiting at the deepest part of the creek and we could not see any crawfish.  So Tumbelina and I decided to go down to the metal tube to see if any were there. And that day the water was trickling just perfect for crawfish.  And then we saw a little crawfish walking on the bottom of the creek, and then it went into a hole, and then we saw a smaller crawfish that was walking on the bottom of the creek.  And then we tried to catch the smaller crawfish.  And then we saw a bigger crawfish come up, and it ate the little crawfish. And Tumbelina and I were screaming and screaming, and Curious was inside eating cereal and he decided to come out and see what happened.  And then he asked us "What happened" and then we said that we just saw a craw fish eat another crawfish, and ti was down in there.
